Have I got a gambling-steak-house-wine story for you. We pulled into the Turning Stone Casino in Oneida, N.Y. last night in search of steak and red wine. After parking in the garage and walking into an upscale bistro called Rodizio, we opened the menu to learn that there is no alcohol served anywhere at Turning Stone. That's how we found ourselves dressed in black funeral clothes and having dinner at a raucous place called Joel's Front Yard Steakhouse in Verona, N.Y.. Joel's has a giant bull outside and an authentic turn-of-the-century Herschel carousel inside in front of the bar. The Round Hill cabernet was a beyond-reasonable $4 a glass and the New York strip steaks were tasty. I owe it all to our waitress at Rodizio, who told us about Joel's and told us to steer clear of the alcohol-free wine in her fine establishment.
