Well, I've been escaping into books, as always, and have learned that Jennie Jerome Churchill, aka Lady Randolph Churchill, had a snake tattoo on her wrist that she frequently covered with jewels. So this was also a Victorian pastime, it appears. P.S. The Wiki denies Jennie's tattoo, but my source is Ralph Martin's excellent biography of Winston Churchill's mum, "Jennie."
She at least kept it hidden. And this is funny after I've just been immersed in Matt Taibbi on Arizona: Did you know the town where I went to high school was named after Jennie J? Or so I always heard; who knows what facts have gotten in the way.
(That was one bleak depiction of NY north of Beacon.)
A k a Regina Schrambling, I write once a week at the base camp but come across things between Sundays that are worth sharing. I suspect my emailing list is plumb tuckered out from clicking on everything I send around, though. And so I’ve sold my soul to the Google.
